HomeGuide to Hardwood

Bring lasting value to your workspace with elegant hardwood flooring.

Hardwood Flooring Benefits

Wood flooring adds value and beauty to any commercial space. With a vast variety hardwood species and styles to choose from, you are sure to find the perfect option to match any business.

When you choose hardwood flooring, you access the many benefits of hardwood, beyond simply its beauty and lasting value. Hardwood offers great design flexibility with countless options in species, style, and color. Additionally, because wood flooring does not retain dust, pollen, or other allergens, it can promote a healthier workplace for your employees. Hardwood flooring is also low maintenance, so it is easy to keep all of your floors looking great long after the installation.

Construction Considerations

In addition to coming in many styles to perfectly match your business’s personality and brand, hardwood is also available in a variety of constructions for installation flexibility. Your Design Consultant will help you to consider the amount of moisture your building can expect to experience, as well as the type of subfloor over which the hardwood will be installed, in order to provide the best type for you.

If your business common experiences high moisture levels, you can still get the look of hardwood with greater water resistance by choosing a luxury vinyl option.

Choose Your Style

Because there are so many different species, colors, and styles within the world of hardwood, the choices may seem overwhelming! However, your Design Consultant can help you navigate the options to find the perfect choice for your style and budget.

Each species has a unique grain pattern and will vary in color and hardness. Most exotic species of wood, like Brazilian cherry and cork, are not stained to preserve their distinctive natural color. Most domestic species like oak, maple, and cherry, though, can be stained in a variety of colors. Apart of the species and coloration, you can also choose the width of the planks and the texture of the wood. Textures can include smooth, hand-scraped, or distressed.

Understanding Hardness Ratings

When making your choice about the species of wood, it is especially important to pay attention to its hardness. The relative hardness of wood is measured on the Janka Hardness scale; the higher the score, the harder the wood is. Harder wood is more durable and will be more resistant to denting, wearing better over the course of your business.

Installation Options

There are also several different ways in which hardwood flooring may be installed. These methods include locking, gluing, nailing, and stapling. Your Design Consultant can help you understand which one of these options will be best suited for the style and space you have in mind.
